Ashley Northington is a natural storyteller who is dead set on helping people, organizations and brands share their stories with the world.


She is the founder and director of the boutique public relations firm, DENOR Brands & Public Relations.


An award-winning public relations consultant, entrepreneur, and writer, Ashley has dedicated her professional career to providing the public with meaningful information that empowers them to make informed decisions and advocate for positive change. Her career spans more than a decade, and includes reporting for The Tennessean, Nashville’s local newspaper, national news reporting for USA Today, election coverage for the Associated Press and multimedia and public education reporting work for The Times in Shreveport, Louisiana.


She has also served at the Louisiana Department of Education as Press Secretary and a Public Information Officer. She also served as a Research Analyst, focusing on public education policy issues at the Bureau of Governmental Research in New Orleans.


Through her work with DENOR Brands & Public Relations, Ashley has developed compelling public relations and branding plans for clients in the entertainment, lifestyle, business and public service industries.


A native of Nashville, Tennessee, Ashley is a graduate of Tennessee State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a minor in women’s studies. Ashley also holds a Master of Public Administration with concentrations in public policy and higher education from Louisiana State University.

Empowerment Coach Renee Bobb

Renee Bobb is an authority in the field of self-publishing and small business development. Her company, R.B.I. Enterprise is a small business-consulting and training and development firm, designed to provide aspiring entrepreneurs with adequate information and resources for effective business maintenance and expansion.  They specialize in Financial Empowerment, Career Development, Women Entrepreneurship and Book Publishing

Renee is the winner of the 2015 Nashville Business Journal Veteran of the Year Award and the 2012 Tennessee Titan Quarterback Volunteer of the Year Award. In 2005 Renee also won the Small Business Administration, Virginia Women In Business Champion of the Year Award. One of the highlights of Renee’s career is having served in the United States Navy as a Telecommunications Operator.

As Self-Publishing Consultants, we work with aspiring authors who want to learn how to write, market and self-publish their own books. Renee has four non-fiction books published including; Start Smart: The Women Entrepreneur Guide and her top-seller, The Self-Publishing Process: The Beginners Guide to Book Publishing Success.

Mildred Walters
Director of Pathway Women's Business Center

Mildred Walters is the new director for the Pathway Women’s Business Center. Most recently she was principal of BizOwner Coach, LLC, a professional coaching practice established to help business owners learn best practices and to develop business acumen. She began that practice on a part-time basis in 2007 and moved to work in it full time in 2012.

From 2002 to 2012 she served as Executive Director of the Nashville Business Incubation Center. Mildred became a well-known small business authority, effectively combining her experiences to facilitate the growth and development of dozens of enterprises and to encourage the advancement of leaders. Under her leadership, NBIC provided education and guidance in the area of strategic growth to enterprises housed onsite.

Mildred taught Human Resource Management in the Tennessee State University College of Business and served as the Director of Public Service. As the college’s director of Public Service, Mildred worked to bring corporate recruiters to campus and managed the “Town to Gown” program, bringing prominent business speakers to share with students.

Her formal education includes the Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tennessee, a Master of Public Administration degree from Tennessee State University, and she is a graduate of Coach University. A member of the International Coach Federation (ICF), she has been conferred the designation of Associate Certified Coach and served as the 2014 president for the Tennessee Chapter. Additionally, Mildred serves on the Athena PowerLink panel, a mentor training organization for female business owners. She is also an active member of the National Association of Women Business Owners.

Mildred has been married to James Walters for thirty-one years. They are the parents of two young adults and they are especially delighted to be grandparents.

Jacqueline Merritt

Economic Development Specialist

Jacqueline Merritt has been employed with the Small Business Administration, since November 1989.  During her tenure with the federal government, Merritt served as a Business Opportunity Specialist for the 8(a) Business Development Division until February 2001.

In Merritt’s former capacity, she serviced East TN and Middle Tennessee 8(a) Companies.  Currently, Merritt’s an Economic Development Specialist and is charged with marketing the agency’s programs and services in centrally located counties as well as counties in Northeast Tennessee.
